2021 Taiwan Society of Plant Biologists Photo Contest


In order to enrich the image of our website and publications. Taiwan Society of Plants Biologists is hereby inviting all members to submit creative photograph that highlights the beauty of plants. This photo contest will not only enrich the society image collection but also provide platform for idea exchange.

Participation eligibility

Must be a valid member of Taiwan Society of Plant Biologists (TSPB)

Competition rules

  1. Participation groups: (1) General membership; (2) Student membership
  2. Submission categories:
  3. Natural ecosystem

    Microphotography imaging (including electron microscope and microscope photography)

  4. Mainly focus on the subject of biological materials, adjusted images accepted (please refer to point “VI. Photo entry rules”)
  5. Submission must include (1) Title (2) Description. Please describe the idea and spirit of the picture, limited to 250 words.
  6. You may not submit more than two pictures.

Judging and award categories

  1. First round: Top 30% will be selected via online voting by members of the society
  2. Final round: The Jury Committee selected by the society will select gold, silver, and bronze awardees from the 30% of the first round in each category
  3. Awards: Gold (NT$ 10,000 and a certificate), silver (NT$ 5,000 and a certificate), bronze (NT$ 2,500 and a certificate), and masterpiece (a certificate and a TSPB T-shirt)

How to participate / Entry period

Photography theme, description, and the image files must be submitted to TSPB website before November 10th.

Photo entry rules

  1. Must be an original work
  2. Photo eligibility:
  3. - Upload image with resolution at least 3600 x 3000 pixels or more than 10 million pixels, and in JPG or TIFF format

    - Only one single photo will be accepted, not the merged or compiled photo. Photos adjusted by brightness, contrast, or color saturation are acceptable, but must not be altered by adding, rearranging, reversing, distorting or removing objects from within the frame.


  1. Copyright holder retain copyright of their work. For awarded pictures, copyright holders grant the Taiwan Society of Plant Biologists unlimited use of pictures for activities in all media, without any remuneration being due.
  2. For other pictures except awarded pictures that are chosen to be included into Taiwan Society of Plant Biologists gallery, the owner will receive souvenir if they are willing to grant unlimited use of the pictures
